The Junior Forest Ranger Program exposes children and families to the ecology and cultural history of the Deschutes National Forest through hands-on-experiences with conservation and preservation of the environment being an underlying theme. Each program consists of an
activity followed by a discussion and/or hike and concludes with awards for each new Junior Forest Ranger.
Please note that the Junior Forest Ranger Programming was created for ages 7-13. We have “Smokey’s Helpers” activities for younger siblings who might want to join, but will not provide badges until they are old enough to complete the program.
