White nose syndrome is a threat to the cave's bat population. You may NOT enter the cave if you have clothing, shoes, backpacks, flashlights/gear etc. that have been worn in any other cave/mine prior to your visit to Lava River Cave. Please make sure all participants are aware of this policy. The cave is cold (42 degrees) and dark- Everyone entering the cave will be prepared by wearing proper clothing (close-toed shoes/boots, jacket/sweatshirt, long pants), not wearing clothing/shoes/backpacks that have been in ANY other cave, not bringing food/drinks into cave By checking this box, you agree with clothing requirements (Cave is cold. To receive a full refund, participants must notify Discover Your Forest staff 48 hours ahead of program departure time. Cancellations less than 48 hours ahead of departure time will result in a full charge. No shows will result in a full charge. In the event of a weather cancellation (smoke, lightening or extreme heat) we will make every effort to secure your space on another trip or provide a full refund. In the event that our minimum guest requirement for tours is not met we will make every effort to secure your space on another trip or provide a full refund. Lava River Cave tours are a family friendly two hour tour covering the geology and biology of our beloved lava tube. No hiking or caving experience is necessary, but please be prepared for the cave environment. Participants must come prepared for the cold, in close-toed shoes. The guided tour is two miles with 180 stairs to descend into Lava River Cave. Once on the cave floor, there will be uneven ground, steps up small rocks, small spaces (height of 4 feet), and 180 stairs to ascend out of Lava River Cave. Dogs are not permitted, and children under eight are not permitted. Children 8-12 are free, provided a flashlight and earn their Jr Ranger badge on tour! Youth 13 – 18 are $30 per person and adults 19+ are $60 per person.
